About Alterstagesklinik Weinfelden
The Alterstagesklinik Weinfelden is a day‑clinic in the canton of Thurgau that provides interdisciplinary, outpatient treatment for older adults. Its primary focus is to support patients in maintaining an independent lifestyle, preserving quality of life, and promoting overall health. The clinic offers two main programmes. The General Therapy Group serves individuals aged 65 and older (or younger when indicated) who suffer from psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety, pain, or substance‑use disorders. Treatment combines systemic, behavioural, and psychodynamic approaches and includes psycho‑education, psychiatric/psychotherapeutic consultations, life‑review therapy, movement, art (in an open studio), music, cognitive training, acupuncture, aromatherapy, relaxation, mindfulness, and social or family counselling. The Memory Group is designed for patients with mild to moderate dementia or other brain‑organic disorders, as well as their relatives. Using a self‑preservation therapy model (SET after Romero) and biographical work, the programme provides life‑review, movement, art, music, cognitive stimulation, social advice, and caregiver education. It is not intended for severe dementia cases. Both programmes operate Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, with eight daily slots in the general group and sixteen in the memory group. Referrals are made through general practitioners or specialist physicians. The clinic is led by Dr. Sergiu Patrulescu (Therapeutic Director) and Sarah Rüegg (Nursing Station Manager) and is located at Brauereistrasse 18, 8570 Weinfelden, Switzerland.
